CMSW / LCSW-Title License Renewal

Also administered by the Nebraska Board of Mental Health Practice, sharing the identical September 1 (even-numbered years) deadline. Per the same 2020 fee schedule, Master Social Worker renewal runs $50 if held alongside an LMHP or LIMHP, or $125 if held independently — reflecting Nebraska’s dual-credential structure for the LCSW title. Psychologist License Renewal

Administered by the separate Nebraska Board of Psychology. Per the Board’s own regulation (172 NAC 155-013), all psychology licenses expire January 1 of each odd-numbered year — a different date and parity than the September 1, even-year deadline shared by LIMHP, CMSW, and CMFT under the Board of Mental Health Practice. The renewal fee is $183. Unlike the Board of Mental Health Practice, Nebraska’s psychology regulations name 11 specific organizations whose CE activities are acceptable for renewal, including AAMFT, ACA/NBCC, NASW, and APA (or their state chapters) — a notably more defined approval list than the counseling/social work side. Nebraska-Specific Considerations

There Is No Standalone LCSW License in Nebraska

This is worth repeating because it trips up clinicians relocating from almost every other state: Nebraska issues a Certified Master Social Worker (CMSW) certification and a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) or Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) license as two entirely separate credentials. Nebraska enacted the Interstate Counseling Compact via LB 752, signed April 19, 2022 — though notably, it’s available specifically to LIMHPs who also hold a current, active Certified Professional Counselor certification, not to LIMHPs generally. Nebraska also enacted the Social Work Licensure Compact via LB 932, signed April 15, 2024; the Compact Commission first convened in September 2024, with implementation expected to take 12 to 24 months from that point. Psychology’s CE Approval List Is More Defined Than Counseling’s

Nebraska’s Board of Psychology names 11 specific organizations whose CE is acceptable, while the Board of Mental Health Practice explicitly states it does not review or approve CE offerings at all. If you’re dual-licensed as a psychologist and an LIMHP, don’t assume a course accepted for one credential is automatically accepted for the other — the psychology side has real, specific limits the counseling side doesn’t share.

New Licensee vs. Renewing Licensee
